Scholarship & review
Is this an official Dar Al-Iftaa product?
We build with the published corpus of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Dar Al-Iftaa Al-Misriyyah and partner with named scholars from their institutions on review. We are not a substitute for either institution's own fatwa channels, and we never speak in either's voice.
Who actually reviews the content?
Named scholars on our review board. Every approved item carries that scholar's name + the approval date on its 'Reviewed by …' badge. The roster is visible to anyone with an account.
Why does the badge sometimes say 'Pending review'?
Because it is. We refuse to inherit the 'scholar-reviewed' claim from marketing copy — every artifact starts as 'Pending' and only shows a scholar's name once that scholar has signed off in the review console. This is a deliberate honesty choice.
Which school of thought (madhab) is this from?
The fatwa corpus draws from Dar Al-Iftaa Al-Misriyyah, which serves Sunni Muslims of all four classical schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali). When schools differ on a ruling, the source card calls that out plainly rather than picking one.
Families & devices
How do I set up a household for my family?
Sign in, open the Young Mufti parent page, and tap 'Create household'. Give it a name; that's it. Then you can invite each child.
How do I invite a child to the household?
From the parent page, generate an invite code or copy a join URL. Open it on your child's device, sign them in (or create their account), and tap 'Join household'. Their progress will then sync to your dashboard wherever you're signed in.
We share one iPad. Do we need separate accounts?
No. Single-account family iPads are fully supported — the parent page reads from the same account the kid is using. Separate accounts are for parents who want to see their kid's progress from their own phone.
Can I leave or remove someone from the household?
Yes — write to us via the moderation channel and we'll do it manually for now. A self-service flow is coming soon.
Moderation & safety
How do I report something that doesn't look right?
Every kid-facing detail view and every research source card has a small flag icon. Tap it, pick a reason (inappropriate / inaccurate / harmful / other), and add notes if you want. Reports land in front of the scholar board for review.
Why did I just get rate-limited?
We bound the cost of misbehaving clients — 60 RAG calls per 10 minutes per account, 20 content submissions per hour, 5 abuse reports per hour. If you hit one and it wasn't a bug, write to us and we'll widen the bucket for your account.
Your data
Can I export everything you store about me?
Yes. Settings → Export my data returns a single JSON archive with every per-user collection. Schema is documented in the README. If you delete your account, what gets deleted is identical to what gets exported.
What data do you actually keep?
Your profile, your Young Mufti progress (XP, stickers, daily activity), your research notebook and chat sessions, your saved comparisons, and your activity log. No browsing history outside the app; no third-party trackers; no ads.
Which third parties do you share data with?
Firebase Authentication and Firestore (Google) store your account + content. Anthropic and OpenAI receive only the specific question text you send to the RAG chat — never your account identity. Pinecone stores embeddings of the corpus, not of your data. Details in the Privacy page.
Account
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. It's permanent — every per-user collection is purged and your Firebase Auth record is removed in one transaction.
Can I change my email?
Yes — write to us from the email currently on file and we'll move you. Self-service flow is on the roadmap.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in page, tap 'Forgot password?' — you'll get a reset link by email. If it doesn't arrive in 10 minutes, check spam, then contact us.
Content
How many lessons / du'as / stories ship today?
20 lessons, 10 daily du'as, 8 Prophet stories, 33 Beautiful Names, 22 Sīra events, and 6 short surahs in the fill-in-the-ayah game. Every artifact is independently reviewable and the curriculum grows weekly.
How often does new content land?
Whenever the scholar board approves new submissions. Content that's pending review does NOT ship to children — the published surface only renders items mirrored into the approved collection.
Can I write a lesson and submit it?
Yes, if you have an account. Go to /author after signing in, compose your draft, and submit. The scholar board reviews every submission; you'll see status updates in your queue.
